Newborn photography is one of the most precious parts of my job. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to forever capture just how tiny a baby is in its first weeks. And although the sleepless nights might feel endless at times, before we know it, it’s all over in the blink of an eye.
Babies change so much, and so quickly. It’s time we can never get back!
Photographing and studying the miraculous creation of tiny newborns as they begin their lives in the outside world is one of my absolute passions.
A baby will never be as small as they are when they are newborn, and the times a new family will share are absolutely unforgettable.
Newborn photography is about creating a snapshot as a new family embarks on a whole new chapter in their life story.

I pride myself in handling and soothing newborns in a calm environment to capture beautiful images of these precious family moments.
The opportunity to document a new little person is truly inspiring. Those teeny toes, dreamy smiles and tiny button noses; no detail is ever forgotten. Using my expertise, I can create newborn portraits to cherish forever.
As a professional newborn photographer, I work hard to exceed the high expectations set by new parents at every session.
Newborn sessions are very much a ‘go with the flow’ process, usually lasting about 3-4 hours. During this time, I allow plenty of time for feeding, soothing and a gently placing baby into a variety of poses to create a unique gallery of images.

When to book
You should book your session as soon as possible to ensure you are able to get a slot.
For newborn photography, I will pencil in your due date and once baby arrives and you contact me to schedule the actual session date and time. It is best to capture newborn photos within the first couple of weeks (preferably between 6-10 days) as babies tend to sleep more soundly.
I only take a limited number of newborn babies each month though so please bear that in mind.
What to expect
My newborn sessions take place at my studio in Newtown, Powys and last around 3-4 hours.
After booking a newborn session you will receive an information email of how the day will run. Please aim to be at the studio before baby’s next feed so that they are comfortable and fed.
I will create a warm, peaceful environment during the session using a white noise app, gentle lighting and natural props. All you have to do is sit back and relax. As it can be a long session, fell free to bring a snack or even a book with you.
I then work my magic! I take baby’s lead; soothing them and getting them relaxed.
The session may last up to 4 hours. Getting a baby to sleep before posing takes time and so extra feeds may be needed to reassure baby they are safe. We will take their lead.
And don’t worry about any natural accidents on the props. Sick, wees and poos happen sometimes. If anything, it’s gives us a giggle and helps you remember the moment even more!
Please let me know beforehand if you wish for siblings, as well as parents to be included to help me plan your session. I will aim to include these throughout the session, however will focus on the baby first. This is a very special photo opportunity so we want to make sure that the star of the show gets all of the attention!
Finally, no matter what your baby does, please know that I am always relaxed. I do this all the time and I love it. Your session will be a special. I allow plenty of time for your session and if we need to take a break to feed, walk, rock etc. this is what we’ll do. I want you to enjoy the experience and watch as your gorgeous baby sleeps peacefully and look on proudly at how cute they are.

What to wear
Generally baby will be unclothed to capture those gorgeous newborn wrinkles. I have several wraps and props that will be used. If you have any special teddies or blankets that you would like to incorporate into the session, please bring these along. It’s lovely to have an even more personal touch.
If you would like a newborn photo with their sibling or parent, I encourage plain clothing to ensure that your photos are timeless. Bold plain colours are great. It’s always best to stay away from any clothing with name brands, pictures, or words on them - simplicity is best!
Baby will either be wrapped or unclothed for sibling(s)/parents photos.
After the session
Images will be edited and then uploaded to a secure online gallery, which will be sent to you. Once viewed you can purchase products and prints through contacting me.
What is included in the session fee?
The session fee covers the sitting, use of my props and accessories, and of course a cuppa! Sessions are held at my studio with a selection of choices to make your session unique and personal. Prints and digital images are purchased separately.

Capturing their first year
My First Magical Year Package
Why not capture you baby’s entire first year? The ‘My First Magical Year’ package includes the newborn session and then 2 further sessions throughout their first year.
Babies at 6-8 months of age are full of smiles. This is the best time to capture the next milestone as they become able to sit on their own and want to engage with everything.
Toddlers from 12 months are doing all sorts of activities at this stage! A particularly memorable time to capture is a 1st birthday session, showing them on their own two feet or celebrating with a cake smash.
